OHCHR is committed to continuing its efforts to ensure a rights-based response to the HIV/AIDS epidemic. As such, it will continue to carry out its efforts and activities in this regard as described above. In addition to these activities, UNAIDS and OHCHR have identified the following as key programming priorities:
• Promoting the further understanding and implementation of human rights in the context of HIV/AIDS, including by effective dissemination of the joint UNAIDS/OHCHR International Guidelines on HIV/AIDS and Human Rights , and Revised Guideline 6 on access to prevention, treatment, care and support , and
• Strengthening capacity at the national level to address HIV/AIDS-related human rights issues.
To achieve these priorities, the following additional activities will be undertaken:
• Producing a user-friendly version of the International Guidelines on HIV/AIDS and Human Rights and disseminating it widely,
• Strengthening the focus on HIV/AIDS-related human rights issues within mandates and activities of national human rights institutions, including development of a handbook as referred to above,
• Gathering and publishing a compilation of practical case studies that highlight how HIV/AIDS-related human rights can be addressed at the national level,
• Developing practical 'fact sheets' on the International Guidelines on HIV/AIDS and Human Rights for use at the national and regional level, and
• Operationalizing country-level joint activities between UNAIDS and OHCHR through strengthening collaboration between OHCHR field offices and UNAIDS Country Programme Advisors and the United Nations Theme Group on HIV/AIDS.
